Walvis Bay seaside resort in Namibia, Southwest coast of Africa, is home to several tourist attractions including guided tours in the Namib desert sand dunes, Dune 7 adventures, sand skiing, the salt works, abundant birdlife, man-made Bird Island and a guano collection industry. Guano is the collective mass of waste matter discharged from seabirds/bats and is great fertilizer thanks to it being rich in potassium, nitrogen and phoshate.
Walvis Bay, the second largest city in Namibia, is situated north of the Tropic of Capricorn in the Kuiseb River delta. The bay is rich in plankton and marine life which in turn attracts a great many southern right whales.
The indigenous people, Herero, know Walvis Bay as Ezorongondo.
