Looking west across the southern part of the Thira Caldera
€25.99
From the viewing point, the tiny uninhabited island of Aspronisi is within reach of the viewer's direct gaze, past the pot of the aloes plant.
Santorini, also known as Thira, is one of the most famous Greek islands, located in the southern Aegean Sea. It is part of the Cyclades archipelago and is renowned for its stunning landscapes, dramatic cliffs, and beautiful beaches. Santorini is the remnant of an ancient volcanic caldera that collapsed after a massive eruption around 3,600 years ago, one of the most significant volcanic events in recorded history. This eruption is believed to have contributed to the decline of the Minoan civilization on Crete and is thought by some to have inspired the myth of Atlantis.
The island’s rugged terrain, with its steep cliffs and rocky outcrops, creates a striking contrast against the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Santorini’s coastline features a mix of black, white, and red sand beaches, with volcanic rocks adding to its raw beauty. The island’s interior is dotted with white-washed houses, narrow streets, and terraced vineyards, offering breathtaking views from every angle.
